The first ever alleycat in Bristol was a success.  While we only had six people in the race it was still a kick. I did not have any marshals for the race, so I had to get smart and figure something out fast.  The people who said they were interested did not show up or even call. They were not couriers of course. I spent the few hours leading up to the race speeding around Bristol (as best as I could with two broken shoulders) on my fixie, jotting down phone numbers from phone boxes. My idea was to give the riders two dockets with street junctions and have them write down the phone number. The best part was to be the shot stop half way, before getting the second docket from me. But as it happens one guy did not drink and one couldn't handle it, so I ended up drinking a half of vodka whilst waiting for the alleycatters to show.

Needless to say I was getting very pissed, Oh well someone had to get it done. After every one picked up the last docket I had to dash back to the start/finish point, which oddly enough was a pub called the Florikan and Firkin in Bedminster. Every one said it was a good race, no one was hit, and no one bitched about anything. The race was filmed by a geezer from Cardiff called Britvic, to which I say "Thank you".

FIRST PLACE- JOSH/BOLT

SECOND       --TOM

THIRD           --WADE

DID NOT FINISH  CLAIR/TIM

We will of course be having another race sometime in the near future, this one will be called CATSHIT. The idea is an alleycat on old fold-up shoppers and the like. The bike no more than £10 and repairs no more than £5. Events will include time trials and the bike toss for the greatest distance. Some of the guys went home and started working on their shoppers already, stay tuned for more on the CATSHIT!!!!
